Colorado Springs Hands-On Falconry Class and Demonstration

Summary

This hour and a half class provides the average person exposure to an ancient sport many know little about. By discussing several different types of birds–eagles, owls, hawks, and falcons–the student gains a new appreciation for the bird’s inherent abilities and the nature of predation. After discussing the birds, the hawks are flown free in the surrounding countryside. The hour lesson concludes with each student having an opportunity to put on a leather glove and hold our trained Saker Falcon. There is a licensed falconer who oversees and presents each experience. The birds engage by their own will.

About operator:

A thrilling exploration above The Broadmoor Seven Falls, following rope bridges and culminating in a rappel. The Broadmoor Soaring Adventure consists of 10 zip-lines that range in distance from 300 feet to 1,800 feet as well as moderate hiking, rope bridges, and a rappel that provide stunning views of the canyon. The Broadmoor partnered with Bonsai Designs, an industry leader in creating aerial adventures, to develop the soaring adventure with particular attention paid to preserving the area’s natural beauty with minimal impact. Accompanied by two guides at all times, participants have the option to choose the full tour, approximately a four-hour excursion, or experience one of two distinct courses of the aerial adventure. The Woods Course cruises over pines, creeks, valleys, a natural granite arch, Midnight Falls, and the trails leading to the falls. The Fins Course soars above steep drops, unique rock formations and jagged cliffs, and across the Seven Falls Canyon. Each course includes five zip-lines that get progressively longer, giving guests time to ease into the experience. The Fins Course also features several custom-built suspension bridges and a rappel to the canyon floor at the end. If just one course is not enough, you can experience the Full tour! Enjoy the best of both courses as you soar above the streams and canyons. The Broadmoor Soaring Adventure is a separate fee and includes the park entry. Note that Broadmoor Soaring Adventure tickets are only available at the complimentary Seven Falls parking lot and online. Fees include park entry fees for Seven Falls.
