Meet your guide in the morning at your centrally located hotel in Porto. Head straight to the Palace of Buçaco in the Bussaco National Forest, built for the last kings of Portugal in 1885. Learn the story of the last royalty as you tour the gardens and frescoed interiors.
Then, continue to Coimbra, or the “City of Students,” which boasts the oldest university in the country, dating to the 12th century. Look through the collection of 300,000 books and rare manuscripts in the Baroque-era library before heading back downtown for lunch in a traditional tavern.
After eating, visit other important landmarks, including the Old Cathedral and Convent of Santa Clara, and then relax by the Mondego River and the CHoupal National Forest.
Return to the Porto at the end of the day.
