Cimarrona and Mascarada Cultural Activity

You will visit the house of a local artisan that creates Mascaradas. Today you will learn why they are made, when we use them, the tradition, how he makes them and will play and dance with them. The activity also includes a home made lunch with the family.

This is the best way to experience the idyllic beauty and local traditions of our country. Your local tour guide will show you all the historic sites of Ciudad Colon and then he will invite you to his house. He is a well known Costa Rican artisan that creates masks for the famous “Mascaradas of Costa Rica”. Here you will not only learn how this artisan makes the masks, you will also experience the tradition and finish the day enjoying a homemade lunch prepared on a traditional wooden fire stove.
