Start with morning or afternoon pickup at your hotel, meeting your private guide for the trip into Lima’s UNESCO-listed historic center. See the most elaborate balconies in the old city, and spot some of the area’s Mudejar, or Moorish-style homes.
Continue to the San Pedro Church, a Jesuit basilica that dates back to the mid 17th-century, then visit the Monastery of San Francisco. Tour the main cloister, which is decorated with Seville-style tiles, then see the Rivera and Zurbarán canvases that hang in the sacristy, and descend into the church’s colonial-era catacombs.
Make the final stop of the day at Bar Cordano, one of the most celebrated historic drinking spots in the old city. Try one of Bar Cordano’s botifarra sandwiches with a glass of traditional chicha—you’ll be in good company, as the Bar Cordano has served every one of Peru’s presidents for the last century, along with a colorful blend of writers, artists, and Peruvian celebrities. This tour concludes with drop-off at your Lima hotel.
