I’ve used Tangol many times while traveling through Latin America, and although experiences can be hit‑or‑miss, they’re more often hits than misses. In Puerto Varas, I booked several tours with them and all were excellent — well‑organized, small groups, and knowledgeable guides who spoke English. Communication was clear, pick‑ups were punctual, and the operator was very helpful and easy to deal with. Overall, I’d recommend them.

I did the Full Day Castro & Dalcahue Chiloé Island tour. It’s a very long day and you cover a lot, but it’s peaceful, with beautiful views and plenty to see. You do spend a significant amount of time driving, though the scenery makes it enjoyable. Communication from the tour operator was very good—they confirm the details the day before and let you know exactly what time you’ll be collected. The driver, who was also the guide, was very nice and friendly. I enjoyed the tour, but there were two small negatives. The lunch stop doesn’t need to be a full hour, especially as you’re taken to a specific restaurant. Tours always do this. Lunch isn’t included in the tour cost. I opted not to have it. I think that hour would have been better spent giving the group time in Dalcahue, where we stopped after lunch. There were several local options there, plus time to explore the small town. It would have felt more authentic, and you could choose where you wanted to eat rather than being taken to a tourist trap. I was also disappointed that two of the main UNESCO‑accredited churches were closed. The tour could be better planned so the group arrives when they’re open, as these are one of the highlights of the day. Otherwise, I would recommend it.
