Head to the Charleston Visitor Center, where the tour begins. From there, make your first stop at Charleston’s former city walls and battery. As you walk around Charleston’s Historic District, be sure to snap photos of the scenic harbor and Fort Sumter.
Continue to some of Charleston’s most important historic sites while your guide helps you learn about their role in American history. You pass Rainbow Row, the longest cluster of Georgian row houses in the United States, and highlights like the Old Exchange Building, one of South Carolina’s most historic buildings. You also see the Charleston City Market, a 200-year-old market that spans four city blocks. By tour’s end you’ll have seen more than 100 historic points of interest.
Your tour ends at the starting point, though you can easily upgrade to include a short visit to the Joseph Manigault House, an antebellum house museum.
