Meet your private guide on arrival at Naples cruise port. Pick up your jetfoil tickets, and hop aboard for the short cruise to Capri Island.
On arrival, climb aboard a private open-top taxi and enjoy a scenic drive along the ‘Mamma Mia Road’—so-called for its role in the 2008 movie. Arrive at the Blue Grotto, one of the island’s most famous natural wonders, and glide through the impressive sea cave on a rowing boat. If the Blue Grotto is closed due to the weather, enjoy a shared boat ride around the island.
After returning to the mainland, a driver is waiting to take you to Sorrento, where you have free time to take in the sights and enjoy lunch (own expense) at one of the traditional restaurants.
After lunch, meet back up with your guide for the journey to Pompeii, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Italy’s most remarkably preserved Roman cities. Set out on a guided tour of the ruins, which date back to as early as the 7th century BC, and learn how the city was buried by the AD 79 eruption of the nearby Mt. Vesuvius volcano. Along the way, see the world’s oldest surviving Roman amphitheater, hear stories of Roman life as you wander around the Forum, and listen as your guide points out the Roman Baths, the Termopolium Capuano, and the House of the Tragic Poet.
After a full day taking in the highlights of the region, return to Naples, where your tour ends with drop-off at the port in time for your cruise departure.
