Guided by the influencer Ella and historian Alex, this self-guided walking experience offers a trove of photography tips for those beautiful instagram-perfect shots and spend an offbeat day in Cambridge!

The tour starts at King’s College Gate – perhaps Cambridge’s most iconic landmark so where better to get your first photo in Cambridge!

Up next is a very undiscovered gem in Cambridge – St Edward’s Passage. If we look back at the college, we can get a great shot of the chapel from within this alleyway with the shops on either side. Or, if that doesn’t take your fancy, have a look in at one of the small bookshops down the passageway.

This next stop might give some of you shivers down your spines – Guildhall – where students sit their exams every year. Exams are notoriously brutal but this iconic building has been around for over 800 years and is well worth a photo!

Time for a little student life – we cross over to Christ’s College where there are some very notable alumni, most notably Charles Darwin!

As we walk through the back streets of Cambridge, we go through Sussex Street and onto Hobson Street is famous for The Millers Music, an independent shop that has been selling musical instruments since 1856.

We then come across another iconic Cambridge college – Jesus college. This is a very picturequse college with the third tallest building in Cambridge (All Saints Church) at the forefront.

We continue to the Cambridge Union where some of the worlds brightest and most infamous people have been invited to give talks including presidents, prime ministers, scientists and even leading actors and sports stars!

Our next point of interest is a favourite for Instagram lovers – Portugal Place - The narrow lane is lined with pot plants, iron railings and Victorian streetlamps. These combined with the colourful doors and parked bicycles make Portugal Place one of the prettiest streets in Cambridge.

Quayside is a great view of the River Cam and there’s plenty of punts that can take you up and down the river here! A great place to take that perfect Instagram snap!

Finally, our tour ends at Magdalene College – another famous Cambridge college and with CS Lewis as one of its notable alumni, this is a great spot to soak up some of Cambridge University’s rich history and get a great photo along the banks of the river Cam!

The Vidi Guides experience is enriched with on-screen photos and videos. About operator:

Too many people visit places without discovering anything about them. And we can’t let that happen.

We believe that the true essence of travelling lies in the joy of discovering the authentic face of cities, neighbourhood and cultural sites, and unlocking the many tales they hold.

With that spirit in our hearts, we started out in search of these stories hidden in the nooks and corners of Paris, London, Cambridge and Oxford's most iconic spots. We then dived into each place’s culture, history, and traditions by collaborating with historians, famous architects, photographers, street artists, and many more. What we ended up finding was a treasure trove of stories that we have meticulously tied together just for you!

But how to deliver this information? We didn’t want to create another Wikipedia, with people looking at their phones instead of the sites. And let’s face it, audioguides and headsets belong to the 20th century.. This is why we’ve created our own storytelling format. Podcast-style tours, enriched with photos and videos, that keep you wanting more.

Our goal is to create a form of travel that will make you truly discover the places you visit.
