Calchaquí Valley and Cafayate Winery Day Trip from Salta

After pickup at your hotel in Salta, meet your guide and board the tour vehicle (car, van or minibus, depending on the group size) for your trip out of town. You'll follow Route 68 through the Lerma Valley toward Cayafate, which lies about 120 miles (190 km) south of the city of Salta. Your guide makes stops along your scenic drive through gorges, around mountains and along rivers for coffee or a snack at La Viña or in Posta de las Cabras. Drive down into the depths of the Calchaquí Valley (Valles Calchaquíes,) a network of land formations that's pending on UNESCO's list of possible World Heritage sites. Stop several times for fantastic views of the unusual rock formations like the Amphitheater (Amfiteatro) and the Devil's Throat (Garganta del Diablo). Take a break in Cayafate for lunch with your guide or at a restaurant of your choosing (both at your own expense), or enjoy the lunch that you brought with you before meeting up with the group for your winery tour of the vineyards or barreling facilities.
