Bogotá Bike Tour

Summary Description

Group bike tours begin at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. every day (private tours can start at any time). This four-hour

exploration of central Bogota starts out with a visit to the historical center, including passing by colonial

churches and the Botero and Gold museums, as well as a visit to the nation's main square, Plaza Bolivar.

From there, we'll ride north to a fruit market and taste from Colombia's huge variety of exotic, tropical fruits,

and then walk across the street for a game of tejo, Colombia's national sport.

After that, we'll ride up Carrera Septima, past Independence Park, the Bullfighting Stadium, the National Museum

and through the La Merced neighborhood, which feels like a bit of London with its English architecture. From there,

we enter the National Park to try fruit salads, juices, corn-on-the-cob and grilled meats.

Our stomachs filled, we ride west through the quiet and elegant Teusaquillo neighborhood to Calle 26, where we'll

admire some of Bogota's largest street murals. After photographing a sculpture by Colombia Fernando Botero, we ride

past the Memorial Center, dedicated to documenting human rights violations, and stop in a small coffee roaster.

Here, we see how Colombia's world-famous arabica beans are selected and roasted for export. Then we'll enjoy a

fresh brew of those delectable beans.

Finally, we'll ride back to our starting point in La Candelaria, finishing off with one of the few uphills on this

mostly-flat ride. The whole route covers about 12 kms.
