Lake Bohinj, the largest permanent one in the valley of Julian Alps, will greet us in all its glory and take us for a ride on the banks of its clear waters. A ride around this glacial lake and by the famous Bohinj railway station will impress us with a magical combination of natural imagery and history, strongly encrypted in these places and its people. You will ride around until reaching Slovenia’s most famous site - Lake Bled. A breathtaking view of the lake’s indescribable colors and reflections of light streaks, a small island in the middle of it and a castle that fills one with utmost respect will be an ideal way to wrap up a magnificent trip to the lakes.
But, chances are you won’t be just ready to leave, as you will soon spot a sign for a local culinary specialty - the creme cake of Bled. This tender mixture of sweet cream, vanilla, eggs and a drop (or two… or three ...) of rum, spread between thin layers of the delicate puff pastry and sprinkled with just the right amount of ground sugar is the local people’s culinary pride. And once you taste it, you will know why.
