Biking to the Valley of the Wine

You'll start this lovely ride at 9.30 from the city center of Lucca. You'll follow sections of the ancient Via Francigena. You'll stop in front of a stunning oak, huge and rich in legends. A monumental tree considered the most important in Italy. Then you'll ride through marvellous olive groves and you''ll reach the medieval village of Montecarlo: the history of this historical hamlet is intertwined with the history of its wine, in fact, the entire territory has always been specialized in the cultivation of vines. You could visit the fortress, you'll admire the panorama that stretches to Montecatini. Finally, you'll descend the hill through the rows of vines and reach a historical estate, where you could taste their excellent wine sumpling local products. A relaxing break in the silence and greenery, before returning to Lucca.
