Bikes 'n' Brews: Craft Beer Tour by Bike

Summary Description

This tour is all about discovery the hipster inner north with its quirky backstreets, hidden breweries and fun locals with a side of beers and biking.

The key turning point in beer's epic history in Melbourne came with the arrival of Belgian chemist Auguste de Bavay in 1884. Beer had been brewed commercially before, but de Bavay changed the game.

Following in Augustes footsteps Melbourne's beer scene has exploded in the last few years. With now over 116 breweries in Victoria.

We cruise around the inner suburbs of Richmond, Abbotsford and collingwood. Our first stop along the road is Is Moondog Started in 2010 by brothers Josh and Jake Uljans and mate Karl van Buuren, these guys are known for using outlandish ingredients such as watermelon, truffle, chilli, pumpkin and wild yeast.

Stop 2 is the newly opened Stomping Ground which not only really “craft”, but well-made but accessible beers, too. Along with beer the stomping ground is known for its great food. Here we give there pizza menu a sample.

Our last stop is our most casual of the day The Mill brewery over in Collingwood. This place is a one man shop with Mirek making and often pouring beers. If you are feeling confident after those beers our tour guides always love to be challenged to a game of table tennis at the “the Mill”.
