Beijing Evening Opera Show with Hotel Transfers

After early evening pickup from your central Beijing hotel, travel by comfortable, air-conditioned coach to the venue for the opera: the Liyuan Theater. Traditional Beijing opera developed in the late 18th century, and combines music, song, mime, dance, and acrobatics, all performed by richly costumed artistes. The Liyuan Theatre is renowned for its classic opera shows, in the best tradition of the art form. Each opera tells a historical or fictional Chinese story built around four main characters: sheng (male), dan (young female), jing ( painted face, male), and chou (clown, male or female), each of whom might be loyal or treacherous, beautiful or plain, or good or evil. Be swept up in the color and drama of the story, watching everything from stylized action to acrobatic fighting and dancing, and enjoy the exquisite songs, music, mime, and poetry. After the show, take your leave of the theater, and relax on the ride back to your centrally located hotel, where your experience ends with a drop-off.
