Beginners - Rock Climbing Peña de Bernal and Abseiling Adventure

- 8:00 am Pick up according to negotiation with traveler.

- 8:10 am Signing of paperwork (letter of responsibility, regulations, covid letter, medical form).

- 8:15 am Transfer to Bernal.

- 9:15 am Pick up from Bernal. Breakfast (coffee and fruit at Casa Celia) Bathrooms available.

- 9:45 am Start of equipment and instructions.

- 10:00 am Begin approach hike.

- 11:00 am Explanation and practice of ascent.

- 11:20 am Start of climbing to the Peña de la Peña through the route of staples.

- 12:20 hrs Arrival at the summit of Bernal, photo session, snacks and talk about legends.

- 13:00 hrs Start of rappels, first the 60 mts. rappel followed by the 30 mts. rappel.

- 14:30 hrs Walk back to the base of the Peña.

- 15:30 hrs Lunch at a local fonda to taste the regional gastronomy.

- 16:30 hrs Visit to the town of Bernal, stop at the loom factory, church and downtown. (optional at traveler's time, but highly suggested).

The adventure will take place in the quiet and beautiful Magic Town of Bernal, called by the Otomiés as Ma'hando or "place of two" and by the Spaniards as Vernal, which refers to a place of huge and/or tall rocks or boulders. Our objective will be to reach the top of one of the three largest monoliths on earth, by an easy but challenging rock climb. During our way up, we will be able to observe the spectacular view of the semi-desert and the Sierra Gorda of Queretaro. Afterwards, we will descend by two rappels of 190 and 100 feet, in order to finally refresh ourselves with an excellent cold beer or freshwater, and a delicious local meal.
