Start the day with an optional early-morning stroll through Bangkok’s popular Lumpini Park, or meet your guide at your hotel. Walk together to the nearest mass transit station (known as BTS or Skytrain) and join local commuters on the ride to the banks of the Chao Phraya River, where you board a public boat and cruise down this busy waterway.
Disembark near Wat Pho to admire the giant reclining Buddha, and visit the Grand Palace with its sacred Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Take a lunch break at a local restaurant (not included) before making your way via foot or tuk-tuk to a family workshop that makes traditional alms bowls for monks.
Ride a commuter boat down a canal (klong) to see the Thai-style teak houses and antique collection at the Jim Thompson House Museum. Browse one of the large shopping complexes nearby, or return to your hotel by Skytrain.
