Head to central Madrid to board your air-conditioned coach to Avila. Your guide tells you the history of the pilgrimage site, which is also the birthplace of the Spanish mystic, Saint Teresa. At the Four Posts (Cuatro Postes), see one of the best-preserved medieval bastions in Spain.
Visit the city walls, towers, churches, and the tomb of a martyred saint, including alabaster Avila Cathedral and the Basilica of St. Vincent. Then reboard for the trip to Segovia’s city center, where you see a 2-tiered Roman aqueduct, one of the best-preserved ancient monuments in Spain.
Continue to UNESCO-listed Alcazar, an 11-century fortress-palace. After a guided tour, head to Segovia Cathedral.
Take some free time for lunch (at your own expense) or upgrade for either a simple meal or Segovian feast. Then, return to Madrid where you’re dropped off at the original departure point.
