Avila & Segovia Tour with Tickets to Monuments from Madrid

If you’re in Madrid and debating whether a day trip to Segovia and Ávila is worth giving up a day in the city, I’m here to save you the internal debate: GO. Your feet may file a formal complaint, but your camera roll will be thrilled. 😂 First, Beatriz deserves ALL the stars. She was incredibly knowledgeable, but more importantly, she was personable, funny, and genuinely enjoyable to spend the day with. It felt less like being assigned a tour guide and more like discovering two incredible places with a friend who just happens to know approximately everything about Spanish history. She made the stories interesting instead of making us feel like we were attending History Class: The Sequel. We did Segovia first and Ávila afterward, and the day was packed without feeling chaotic. Luis, our driver, gave us a safe, smooth, comfortable ride between destinations, which is especially appreciated when you're spending the day walking around and taking in EVERYTHING. Oscar was also incredibly helpful, even though he was accompanying another group. He helped explain things on the bus, handed out headsets and water, and seemed to materialize whenever we needed something. 😂 Now for the important survival tips: BRING AN UMBRELLA. And I don't necessarily mean because it might rain. I brought one for shade and felt like I had cracked the code. Many people didn't have one and eventually started looking at me like I was carrying the Holy Grail. 😂 Spain was beautiful. Spain was sunny. Spain was NOT playing about that sun. Also bring sunscreen and water. You can purchase water on the tour, but it's an additional cost, which isn't unusual. Personally, I recommend arriving prepared because apparently the Roman Empire left us aqueducts but not complimentary bottled water. 😂 The one thing to understand going in is that you cannot do everything during the free time. If shopping is your priority, you may have to skip or shorten lunch or separate from the group. I know some people may see that as a downside, but honestly, I walked away thinking: I can buy stuff. I can't buy another Tuesday in medieval Spain. 😂 And that’s really what made this tour worthwhile. You're not just checking two cities off a list. You're standing in places that have been there for centuries, hearing the stories behind them, looking around thinking, “How is this just a normal Tuesday for people who live here?” Was it a long day? Absolutely. Did my feet have opinions by the end? Also absolutely. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat. If you're visiting Madrid, BOOK THE TOUR. Let Beatriz handle the history, let Luis handle the driving, let Oscar handle the logistics, and let yourself enjoy the fact that you just spent a day exploring two spectacular Spanish cities.
