Summary

After being picked up from your hotel, you will head to an authentic reindeer farm outside Rovaniemi. You will meet the herders and their animals, learn about their lifestyles and about reindeer husbandry. Because this is the first visit of the day, you will also get the chance to feed the reindeers their favourite food. This offers a great opportunity to approach the animals, as they are still very wild animals. In winter, when we have snow, you may practice your driving skills with a self-driven short sleigh ride of 400 m (around 2-3 min). Reindeer sleigh rides were traditionally a way of transportation for loads and passengers in Lapland. Nowadays, certain skillful herders continue training the best elements of their herds to perpetuate this tradition. Please note that this tour focuses on the animals and the lifestyle of the herders, it does not include a longer safari.
