Assisi and Orvieto Day Trip from Rome

Your day begins with pickup from your Rome hotel or a central meeting point. Travel in a coach north along the River Tiber for 1.5 hours to reach the Umbria region.

The tour stops first in Orvieto, a quaint hilltop village famous for its 13th-century Gothic cathedral. Here you’ll explore town on foot taking time to explore the mosaics, sculptures, and stained glass of the Orvieto Cathedral.

After lunch on the shores of Lake Trasimeno, you’ll head to the UNESCO-listed town of Assisi, the birthplace and home of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of Italy. Walking tours visit important locations in St. Francis’ life, including the stall where he was reportedly born.

On the drive back to Rome, you'll stop by the Santa Maria degli Angeli to visit the 9th-century basilica where St. Francis was thought to have worshipped. Your tour ends back at the departure point.
