Asakusa Kimono Photography Tour

Absolutely phenomenal had a blast and learned a lot from my guide. Who went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable with every process.

I booked this photoshoot for me and my husband as a way to get amazing pictures on our trip without the stress of having to take them myself. Our guide was Gota-san. We arrived early at the meeting place and he was already there and he was easy to find as he had a sign. Gota-san was so kind and respectful. He showed us what we'd be doing for the tour so we knew what to expect. The kimono rental was fun. I don't know if I could have found the rental place without Gota-san. I speak a little Japanese, but my husband doesn't speak any. Not a problem! The kimono staff were so nice and had plenty of English signs. Our guide spoke English well. The package includes a standard kimono, but you can upgrade your look. I got a slight kimono upgrade and just paid for any add-ons before I left he rental shop. (It comes with a simple hair-do for women, special shoes, and a bag). At the temple, Gota-san pointed out interesting facts about Senso-ji and knew just where to take amazing pictures. His directions were clear and he was so encouraging that we were posing well (we've never done anything like this before). There were lots of other people there in kimono and they were taking pictures too, so we didn't feel self-conscious. Our guide said we'd have the pictures in 36 hours, but I got them before that! They came out amazing! They'll be great Christmas cards and I definitely want one framed in our house to remember this special trip.

I had one of the most wonderful experiences of my first trip to Tokyo here. Although I unfortunately arrived a little late, Mai welcomed me very warmly and helped me choose my yukata. The yukata rental is provided by a separate rental service, but the staff there were also very friendly and helpful with both the selection and getting dressed. The photoshoot takes you through the shopping streets of Asakusa and around Sensoji, one of the most beautiful and traditional areas of Tokyo. Mai gave me lots of interesting information about the different places and things we encountered and was always happy to answer my questions. I was a little nervous before the photoshoot, as I don’t usually feel particularly comfortable in front of a camera. Mai did an excellent job of showing me how and where to position myself, and took some really beautiful photos throughout Asakusa and Sensoji. She made the whole experience feel very natural and comfortable. What I especially appreciated, though, were the relaxed conversations we had throughout the afternoon. Mai not only shared lots of interesting things about Asakusa and Japanese culture, but also gave me some personal recommendations for dishes and restaurants away from the usual tourist crowds. She even offered to answer questions and share recommendations via WhatsApp afterwards, which I really appreciated. That personal touch made the experience feel like much more than just a photoshoot. It was a genuinely enjoyable afternoon with a very kind and knowledgeable person. I can absolutely recommend this experience to anyone who would like to wear traditional Japanese clothing, have some beautiful photos taken, and learn more about Asakusa along the way. Booked an experience through magical trips and the ladies were polite and a nice range of kimonos although a lot of things were at an additional cost so bear this in mind when booking but well worth it in my opinion! Geto-san was a fabulous photographer and really nice guide. Overall great experience. Thank you!

I had an amazing experience using this company and having Gota as our photographer. What makes this experience so unique is that you get to dress up in a beautiful kimono of your choosing as well as take beautiful photos while getting a tour of some of the most popular attractions in Tokyo. Gota is a very skilled photographer who was very patient, kind, and has an awesome eye and attention to detail in order to get your best shots! I was thoroughly impressed with the entire process. This was one of my most memorable experiences so far in Tokyo and Gota largely contributed to making it that way. Additionally, our photos were sent to us very timely. The staff were also very helpful and patient and took the time to help us choose the kimono that most complimented us. Don't hesitate to book this activity and request Gota if you can.
