Your day tour starts at the cruise port, where you'll meet your private guide outside the main gate. Hop aboard your private air-conditioned vehicle for your exploration of Klaipeda and the Curonian Spit, part of Kursiu Nerija National Park.
After a ferry ride to the Curonian Spit, a strip of sand that separates the Baltic Sea from the Curonian Lagoon, visit Juodkrante, a resort area. Marvel at the natural setting of this narrow peninsula, whose survival depends on human efforts to combat the erosion of the sand by the natural forces of waves and winds. Then continue to the Grey Dunes, also known as the Dead Dunes, where you can walk along the grass-covered hills.
When you arrive in the town of Nida, see Parnidis Dune, which stands at 170 feet (52 meters) high, and then check out the Thomas Mann Memorial Museum, dedicated to the German author of Death in Venice. Next up, visit the Mizgiriai Amber Gallery, a museum where you can learn about amber's significance in Lithuanian history and culture. After about two to three hours at these attractions, you have free time for lunch at a local cafe (own expense).
Then head back to Klaipeda to visit the Old City, home to sights such as Theatre Square, a fountain, sculptures, and more. As you take the walking tour, hear interesting stories from your guide and learn about the town's architecture and fortifications. You have free time to shop, explore more, or take a break for a drink (own expense), if you wish, before you are transferred back to the cruise port to end your tour.
Note: Tour order may vary depending on traffic conditions and availability. Tour is not wheelchair accessible.
