Find your way to the Ponta Delgada Marina, where you'll meet your guide. After a short orientation and safety briefing, board a boat and set out along the coastline. Look for flying fish, turtles, dolphins, beaked whales, pygmy whales, humpback whales, blue whales, and sperm whales.
Midday, you'll eat a buffet lunch, accompanied by drinks. Then head for Caldeira Velha and Lagoa do Fogo to see one of the area's scenic lakes, as well as the center of the Azores' volcanic activity.
Your last stop is the pond fire, an area of geothermal activity that features therapeutic mud. Depart from Mount Dark to Ribeira Grande, stopping at Central Geothermal on the way to learn about how the local company harnesses the area's geothermal activity to produce energy for the island.
