Day at the Al Hambra
A wonderful experience made better by having Neria as our guide. She was knowledgeable very humorous and seemed to enjoy her work. The Al Hambra involves a lot of walking and stairs, so be mindful if you have any mobility issues. It is very crowded, even during the quieter times. Getting there by bus is easy enough but be aware of where the bus leaves from (No. 30 or 32 from Plaza Isabella de la Catolica) not from Plaza Nuevo as we thought. After the tour (3hrs), you are left in a courtyard to admire the view and rest, then you have to find your way to the exit for the bus. Its a long way to the exit and there are no signs until you are almost there. Again, lots of stairs and lots of walking. That said, it was a fabulous day, the Al Hambra is spectacular and the gardens are amazing. I would definitely do it again.
Fantastic experience from start to finish!
I had an amazing time on this tour! Everything was well-organized, informative, and engaging. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly, making the whole journey very pleasant. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
Gorgeous - lots of walking, bring water
We did the 3 hour tour. There was a 15 min break at one of the shops about halfway through. Bring water. It’s a lot of walking and was hot in the middle of the day. Take a taxi or the little red bus up the hill. If you don’t want to walk back down the hill after the tour, the only option we found was to wait at the taxi sign near the Charles palace and flag one down. Our tour guide, Ana, is a Granada native and was amazing - funny, engaging, knowledgeable, and just a little bit irreverent in the best way. The gardens were beautiful, the views from the top of the hill are incredible, and the palaces are easy to imagine in use - gorgeous.
