Agadir was until 1960 a fashionable seaside resort and port city, until on the night of February 29th to March 1st an earthquake totally destroyed it. One speaks of about 15,000 people who died that night. Meanwhile, the city is in a modern Style rebuilt.
Visit the souk after the Berber Museum, where you can enjoy the wonderful scents and colors of a foreign oriental culture.
The sixteenth-century Kasbah ruins above are the closest point to get there. From there, they have a unique view of the new city of Agadir and the elongated bay and coastline.
