From 1690-1820, Dublin experienced a period of transformation and architectural development as it became the "second city of the British Empire". On this leisurely tour of Georgian Dublin, you will see how a medieval town became a beautiful centre of trade and culture. You will gain in-depth knowledge of the architectural heritage of the city and hear about the daily lives of those who built and occupied Georgian Dublin.
The tour begins at the Georgian House Museum on FitzWilliam Place. On this tour we will visit key Georgian sites such as Trinity College Dublin, Templebar, St. Stephen's Green, the Liberties, the Four Courts, O'Connell Street and the Irish Famine Memorial. We will also be entering the National Gallery to view contemporary paintings, the Long Room Library, and Dublin Castle, seat of the British colony in Ireland.
The tour will finish by the river Liffey, at the Famine memorial with the tragic story of Dublin's fall from grace in the 19th century.
