Itinerary • • DAY 1 : MARRAKECH – AIT BEN HADDOU KASBAH – OUARZAZATE - DADS VALLEY : • The Tour of a Dream, in Only 7 Days The journey begins with a pickup in Marrakech at your hotel, riad, or the airport. From there, we'll travel over the Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, stopping along the way to snap pictures of the picturesque Berber settlements ( you may take a walk in some villages to see Berber villages). Telouet, where we want to see a kasbah built in the 17th century, is our next stop. We'll go in the direction of Ouarzazate to see the Ait ben Haddou Kasbah and the equally impressive Kasbah Taourirt, both of which are protected by UNESCO. After seeing the beautiful rose valley of KalaatMgouna, we will continue on to Skoura, a city perched atop numerous kasbahs, most notably the 18th-century Kasbah of Ameridhil, which still stands today. The next stop is the Dades Valley, where you can discover several nomadic landscapes and traditional Berber communities. The beautiful Dads Gorges with its wacky road (Tissdrine) from where you can see the sun set. Travelers will eat and stay in a local riad for the night. • • DAY 2 : DADES VALLEY – TODGHA GORGE – MERZOUGA SUNSET : • So after a delicious breakfast at the riad, we'll go off to todgha gorges, where you can take in the breathtaking views of the Berber villages situated above the river and stroll under the 300-meter-high cliff where so many rock climbers come to practice their skills. The trip then continue to Merzouga (where the camel trekking trips are waiting), with stops at tinjdad (lunchtime), Erfoud, and er-rissani along the way. After enjoying some mint tea and listening to the desert's soothing sounds, you may explore the nearby settlement of Merzouga. To cap off an action-packed day, you can hike up the dunes after sunset for a breathtaking view. • • DAY 3 :MERZOUGA AREA - SUNSET : • You will get to know the Gnawa people and their music and culture as we take you on a tour that takes you all the way across the dunes, through the oasis of MERZOUGA, and into the nomadic settlement of KHAMLIA village (a real African town). Then, you'll go to Rissani -Sijilmassa, a historical city and the birthplace of many monarchs in Morocco's histories, it was also the meeting location for the African caravans, and the lac of Merzouga, with its bird populations. In this area, known as the souk, vendors offer everything from spices and vegetables to clothing. After being greeted with mint tea in the traditional nomadic style, you'll get on your camel and go off to discover the secrets of the Erg-Chebbi and the beauty of the Sahara Desert. In the luxury of your nomad tents, you may watch one of the world's most beautiful sunsets over the sand dunes. Then, you'll travel to the camp for supper before spending your first night in a tent or beneath the stars, depending on your preference. Keep in mind that we can arrange for Berber nomad musicians to perform for you if you so choose, complete with drums and campfire dance. Our camp has luxurious facilities, including toilet facilities and hot showers, for your comfort. • • DAY 4 : MERZOUGA – DESERT – TAFILALT OASIS – IFRANE - FES : • Get up early so you can see the rise of the sun. We will depart for Ziz valley after a traditional Moroccan breakfast and refreshing shower, where we will pause to take in the breathtaking panorama of the Ziz palm oasis and Ziz gorges. After lunch in Midelt, we'll travel via the Middle Atlas Mountains and its cedar forest on our way to Azrou, where we'll stop to feed monkeys in the wild. We'll take a break at the European-style town of Ifrane, widely known as the "Switzerland of Morocco," on the way to Fes. We will arrive in Fes in the evening and spend the night in a Riad. • • DAY 5 : FES DAY SIGTHSEEING : • After a hearty breakfast at your Riad, you and your tour guide will set out to discover the many wonders of Fes medina (founded in the 8th century by Moulay DrissII), including the Royal palace gate, the Jewish quarter (built in the 16th century and considered the first Mellah in Morocco), Al Qarawiyin, the world's oldest university, the tanneries, and the Moulay Driss mausoleum. We plan on using the car to take in the sights of the Medina as well. Riad (hotel) for the night. • • DAY 6 : FES – VOLUBILIS - MEKNES SIGTHS - RABAT : • After a hearty breakfast at the hotel or riad, the day's sightseeing will begin. After breakfast, you'll be taken to Volubilis, the most well-known Roman relic in Morocco, which dates back to between AD 24-285. From there, you'll continue on to Meknes, the imperial capital that has stood since the time of Morocco's first emperors from the Alawite dynasty. You may see the magnificent Babb el-Mansur archway, the Sahrij Souani Basin, and the lavishly ornamented Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. The next stop on our trip will be Rabat, where we will spend the night in a hotel or riad. • • DAY 7 : RABAT SIGTHS AND CASABLANCA : • We'll take you on a tour to RABAT, the exotic capital of Morocco, where you can visit the 12th-century Hassan Tower. The Andalusian-style Ordains Kasbah, created in the 11th century, is next; from there, you can see all the way to Salé city and the Atlantic Ocean. We'll stop for lunch on the way to Casablanca, Morocco's bustling business hub. As a starting point, we'll explore Hassan 2, the second-largest mosque in the world, and one of Morocco's greatest architectural achievements, thanks to its perch on a rocky outcrop overlooking the ocean. We'll drop you off at your hotel or wherever you'd want the trip to conclude. Marrakech is where the 7-day Morocco tour ends.
