From Strangers to Family on the Inca Trail
Our 4-Day Classic Inca Trail experience was absolutely unforgettable, and so much of that was thanks to our amazing guides, Abelardo and Rene, and our wonderful cook, Lucio. From the very first day, Abelardo and Rene made us feel like we were taken care of. Their patience, encouragement, sense of humour, and deep knowledge of the trail brought every moment to life and helped us appreciate both the history and beauty of this incredible journey. A special thank you to Lucio, whose meals were a highlight every single day (including one breakfast delivery on the side of the mountain for us slow-pokes). We were constantly amazed by the delicious, hearty, and beautifully prepared food he created in the mountains. Every meal felt like a gift after a day of hiking. Together, this team (including all the staff and porters) created an experience that was not only seamless and professional, but also full of warmth, laughter, and genuine care. Every request was taken care of (and our group had many). We will always remember reaching Machu Picchu, but we will remember the people who got us there with even greater gratitude. Thank you for making this adventure so special. We recommend this team wholeheartedly!
Memories for life
Amazing experience, great trip, everything was perfect. Special mention and thanks to our guide Julio Conde and Ferdinand and the whole team whom allow us to make this dream true
Amazing Inca Trail trek
Accidentally posted this review under the wrong company's inca trail trip. Reposting under TreXperience: We signed up for the 4 day 3 night trek (luxury version) of the Inca Trail with Trexperience. Our family of four (including 2 twenty something year old kids) loved it. The company and the team made it a wonderful experience. The communication from start to finish was professional and helpful. All questions asked in advance were answered promptly by email. We chose to do the trek with just our family of four ( we wanted to hike at a pace were comfortable with, without impacting other people). Our team including head guide Ed, chef Esteban and massage therapirt, Elizabeth, support guides and numerous porters were amazing. The food and massages were excellent. Especially the food - we were blown away by the variety, great flavors and beautiful presentation (including a gorgeous cake) that the chef and his assistant were able to make happen in camp sites. All of it was delicious and healthy (better than the food we subsequently had at two different Inkaterra hotels.) We also enjoyed the camp sites selected by TreXperience - especially the first one where we were the only campers at the site. Our family particularly enjoyed learning about Quechua culture, history and language (all of our team were Quechua, mostly from the Sacred Valley area) from our guide. Couple suggestions for future travelers for the Inca Trail: 1) Bring toilet paper and hand sanitizer or hand wipes for the restrooms along the way. They are limited and very very basic (think hole in the ground). 2) Get altitude medication. We live at 5,000 ft and hike often at similar altitudes to this trek but doing it 4 days in a row and sleeping at high altitude can be tough. We were thankful for our altitude meds. 3) Most important - bring lots of money for gratuities for the porters (some of the strongest and hardest working people we've ever met), guide, chef and massage therapist. You'll glad you did and you will likely be highly impressed and humbled by your team (and it will probably be a bigger team of people than you're expecting). We travel and hike frequently but aren't experienced campers so I had some worries about this trek in advance. It was a much, much better experience than I could have expected. Thrilled that we chose TreXperience for Inca Trail trek
Inca Trail - WoW
This 42 km hike was truly incredible! Despite a few people getting sick at times in our group, it remains an unforgettable experience! It's demanding, you have to go at your own pace, but without being a great hiker, it still went well in general. The sexy Pumas with Edy and Fabio as well as the whole group of porters were great! Yes, you get up early, yes, the toilets are not among the highlights 😅, but the landscapes, the elaborate meals, the shared moments and the feeling of being privileged to discover the Inca Trail with people important to me are what I remember most! Best tour I have taken. 100% recommend
This trip was amazing and highly memorable. The food was incredible and was always freshly made with variety of different options. They also always compensated for dietary needs. I had the tour guide Romario. He explained very well the stories behind the Inca trail and the monuments we saw along the way. He made sure the group was okay throughout the challenging walk and always had a joyful attitude. The porters were also always so kind and joyful plus the coordination of pick up and drop off were highly organized, efficient and easy. I would 100% take this tour again and would recommend Romario as a tour guide.
