3-hour Small-Group History Tour of Prague's Renaissance and Baroque Gardens

Summary

Meet your group and guide at Malostranska Metro station, and get ready for an adventure through some of Prague’s most gorgeous gardens from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Your group takes the 22 tram together to get to the castle’s gardens. First, take in the sights of the garden around the Belvedere Summer Palace at Prague Castle. This area is often described as one of the most beautiful Renaissance gardens outside of Italy, so you might want to make sure you snap pictures along the way. Next, make your way to the Fig House and the Orangery on the estate. This is one of the first places where figs, almonds, oranges, and lemons were grown in central Europe. Keep walking through more of the greenery, and learn about how tulips were first brought to Prague. Pass by the South Gardens and the Wallenstein Garden as you marvel at the outdoor architecture. From fountains to statues to brightly colored peacocks, there’s always something to keep an eye out for. Your last stop is the Vrtbovská Garden (own expense), a walled garden from 1720. Its Baroque landscaping is a must-see as you catch a glimpse of Prague’s cityscape from the garden grounds. Your guide leaves you here, and you decide how to spend the rest of your day.
