2 Hours Private Poetry Tour in Peckham
Tour info
Why take this tour?
Street art on Queen’s Road celebrates the overlapping sights, sounds, and cultures of Peckham and offers a springboard into our first exercise. As we head down Rye Lane, we create short, sensory poems and then experiment with form and structure with guided exercises on the green. Atop the bubblegum staircase of a multi-story carpark redesigned as an arts venue, we overlook the city and consider the transcendent possibilities of poetry. The contemporary Peckham poet, Caleb Femi, guides our vision of the city’s overlapping sights, sounds, and cultures, encouraging us to reflect on those things that make us who we are. We finally consider William Blake's visionary poetry on the spot where he saw angels in an oak tree on Peckham Rye Common and share our final piece.
