Choose a morning or afternoon trip, and travel independently to the base camp at The Crags near Plettenberg Bay. Bring a bathing suit, towel, and wet shoes, or hire shoes at the camp (additional cost).
Meet your guides and small group of no more than 10, and get a safety briefing and instructions. Then, grab a wetsuit, life vest, helmet, and harness, and make the 5-minute drive to the canyon, an ancient river gorge that winds through indigenous forests. Your adventure will be fully guided by two qualified and registered Canyon Adventure Guides.
Start with your first abseil (rappel), dropping deep into the gorge. Then, set off to hike and swim through the ravine’s freshwater pools and streams. When you arrive at the confluence of two rivers, choose to make an exciting jump from the cliffs or perform an abseil into the waterfall below.
Continue swimming and hiking alongside the river until you reach ‘The Rush,’ an 82-foot (25-meter) waterfall. Here, take an abseil through the cascades into the pool below — an unforgettable experience. Then, continue swimming through the river shallows before making a last, optional cliff jump into the waters.
Finally, return to basecamp where your trip concludes.
