The 2 day tour of Ninh...
The 2 day tour of Ninh Binh was good, pace was a bit too fast so you don’t get to absorb each spot. Suggest more time, especially to allow for crowds. Local operator was great and guides were great. The problem was with Viator booking, agent did not tell me that by getting two rooms (group of 3) I would have to pay $50USD extra. This should have been advised up front. At the time there was nothing on their website saying groups of 3 or more had to share one room. No doubt Viator have added this detail now. Poor experience and shock of significant add on cost.
5* home stay and guide Sú
Outstanding tour guide, Sú. Explained everything throughout the trek and at the home stay. The bed was incredible and the cleanliness was unreal! I was highly recommend Sú and David (who managed the booking). This was superb -5*!!!
Stunning scenery
Stunning trip, amazing views, and incredible boat rides! The overnight accommodation was basic, but clean and the hosting family were lovely. The first day was great, and the guide was completely clear on what was happening; on the second day, our guide sort of forgot about us, we were on a separate coach as coming from the overnight accommodation and the guide was bringing a group from Hanoi. We ended up taking 3 different coaches that day, and 2 different guides - without any clear guidance on what to expect. A bit more communication on the second day would have got this to a better rating.
