Day 1: Kiev–Chernobyl (L, D)
From Kiev, journey to Chernobyl by climate-controlled minivan. Receive handouts, maps, and a respirator, and watch a documentary on the 1986 accident and its aftermath.
Enter the Exclusion Zone via Dytyatky checkpoint and tour Chernobyl before check-in at your basic-but-clean 2-star hotel. After lunch, view Pripyat’s must-sees, such as the Red Forest, school, swimming pool, and amusement park.
Shop for souvenirs and refreshments (own expense) at a Chernobyl store, and finish with a hotel dinner and optional bar meetup.
Day 2: Chernobyl–Kiev (B, L)
After breakfast and checkout on the second day, see the Soviet-era military Duga radar system, and explore more of Pripyat, including its derelict fire station.
View reactor 4 from a distance, feed giant catfish in the cooling pond, and visit nearby Parishev. Meet some villagers who have returned to live in this haunted place. After lunch and viewing more Chernobyl relics, return to Kiev.
Your tour ends at the original starting point.
Please note: Designed for maximum safety, your tour avoids contaminated areas throughout. During your trip, you absorb around 0.40–0.60 rem (4–6 millisieverts) of gamma radiation (about the same as on a 5- to 8-hour flight). Use a Geiger–Muller counter to measure radiation levels, if you wish.
