You travel as a walk-on passenger from River Heads to Kingfisher Bay, collect your 4WD once you arrive on the island, and then enjoy a full day of self-drive adventure before returning the vehicle in time for the afternoon ferry back to River Heads.
Instead of following a fixed guided tour route, you can explore at your own pace, with your day planned around tide times, ferry schedules and safe driving conditions.

How The Day Works
Start your day at River Heads and board the passenger ferry to Kingfisher Bay. Once you arrive on K’gari, you will collect your 4WD on the island and receive the important information needed for your self-drive adventure.
Your route will depend on tide times, track conditions and the ferry schedule. Depending on the day, possible highlights may include rainforest areas, freshwater lakes, beach driving, 75 Mile Beach, Central Station, Lake McKenzie or other K’gari locations.
The vehicle must be returned on the island before your scheduled return ferry to River Heads.
Important Information
Travel on K’gari is affected by tides, weather, track conditions, National Park rules and ferry times. Guests must follow all briefing instructions, safe driving guidance and permitted travel areas.
Drivers must hold a current open licence and present a physical card for the bond. Food, fuel and personal expenses are not included.

Arrive at the River Heads Ferry Terminal for your already booked and paid for walk on Ferry Transfer to K'Gari (Fraser (Island). Arrive 20 minutes before the Ferry departure, Ferry departure at 7.00AM, arrive at 6.40AM.
K'gari
Arrive at the Kingfisher Resort Ferry Terminal on K'Gari (Fraser Island). From here it is a short 5 to 10 minute walk to our office collection point.

Ferry departs at 7.00AM and 9.00AM. You must arrive at least 20 minutes before the departure time to check in and board the ferry. The Ferry will not wait for late arrivals.

Up to 7 days before the activity start time: full refund. Less than 24 hours before the activity start time or no-show: no refund. Date changes are subject to availability, ferry arrangements and operational approval.
