Summary

After morning pickup at your Salvador hotel, meet your guide and board your vehicle for the 135-mile (220-km) trip to Mangue Seco. Upon arrival at your destination, perched on a peninsula between the sea and the river, climb into an enclosed canoe to reach the beach. Mangue Seco is inaccessible by road, so crossing the Real River (which divides the Brazilian states of Sergipe and Bahia) is part of the adventure. Once at the beach, opt for a dune buggy ride (own expense, optional on the day of the the tour) to explore the towering white sand dunes and stop for photo ops. If you opt for the tour, you'll return to the beach after 40 minutes to spend the rest of your time relaxing, swimming and exploring the local restaurants and beach bars. Leave the beach at approximately 3:00pm for a visit to Tieta's House, the character made famous by Jorge Amado's novel. Follow an optional tour of the site, enjoy some ice cream, then board your vehicle to head back to Salvador for hotel drop-off.
