Traditional Nordic and Danish Cooking Class with an Expert Local

Summary

This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. Christine lives in a classic villa in Frederiksberg, a municipality in the center of Copenhagen. Her beautiful garden dotted with apple trees, edible flowers and herbs reflects her love for fresh ingredients. Christine’s cooking typically includes seasonal herbs, berries, fruits, vegetables, fish as well as rye bread and dairy products - ingredients native to Denmark. Christine is passionate and knowledgeable about food history and her mission is to engage you in the history and culture of Denmark that has a link to different parts of the country, from the berries eaten by the first settlers to the new Nordic kitchen. Join Christine in her kitchen and choose between two classes – the first option is Danish open rye sandwich (smørrebrød) making class where you will learn to make 2-3 different kinds of sandwiches using historical herbs, berries, spices and seafood. The second option is Danish baking class where you will learn to make one kind of butter cookie and one kind of konditor kager, a unique Danish cake variety. Please let Christine know in advance which class you prefer.
