Why take this tour?

Discover Paris and explore the unmissable Eiffel Tower - one of the most visited monuments in the world and UNESCO World Heritage Site!

Join a local historian on this immersive private tour, as we hear about the more intimate side of the Eiffel Tower, the most iconic symbols of romance around the world. If you are visiting in the evening, see the City of Lights in all its glory and witness the tower as it sparkles at the stroke of a new hour.

We'll be able to stand and admire the famous Eiffel Tower with its mesmerising beauty, the Palais de Chaillot and the events that link all the buildings in this neighbourhood, and the Champs de Mars is a national place of bloodshed, protests and celebrations.

If you’re looking to get the most out of your visit to Paris and the Eiffel Tower, join us on a unique experience of secret stories and spots only the locals know, for a cultural adventure in this must-see picturesque part of the city!

The tour starts on the Parvis Droits de l'Homme (the Human Rights plaza), where you’ll take in the most breathtaking views of the tower. We’ll start walking towards the tower as we set the context about the World Fairs and the deeper meanings behind the Tower.

As we continue our walk, we’ll look out for some other prominent World Fair buildings, and explore the unique meaning behind each one. We’ll discover local open-air artwork and walk through a square that holds the memory of one of the significant milestones in our modern history.

We’ll cross the Pont d’Iena and stop to spot some other famous Parisian landmarks. This is also where we’ll learn more about the man who gave the Tower its name: Gustave Eiffel. We’ll delve into some controversy about the Tower’s early history, learn about its fight for survival (it was built as a temporary structure) and discover how it has been able to adapt and reinvent itself over the past 130 years.

Next, we’ll wind through some backstreets as Alice shows you the most instagram-able spot to take in the tower - one that few tourists will know about. We’ll discover some fun anecdotes and learn about the Tower’s more recent developments. As we approach the Tower, we’ll give you a quick quiz to test whether you’ve been listening!

See the City of Lights in all its glory and witness the tower as it sparkles at the stroke of a new hour. The tour ends at the base of the Tower, so you’ll be free to either queue for the ride to the top, or continue walking down the Champs de Mars, where we can learn about another famous French icon - Napoleon!

The Vidi Guides experience is enriched with on-screen photos and videos. We also point out where to take the perfect Instagram photos during the tour, and include recommendations for food, drinks, and local attractions. Don't worry, none of our recommendations are sponsored - they are simply favourites of the locals who helped craft the experience.

About operator:

Too many people visit places without discovering anything about them. And we can’t let that happen.

We believe that the true essence of travelling lies in the joy of discovering the authentic face of cities, neighbourhood and cultural sites, and unlocking the many tales they hold.

With that spirit in our hearts, we started out in search of these stories hidden in the nooks and corners of Paris, London, Cambridge and Oxford's most iconic spots. We then dived into each place’s culture, history, and traditions by collaborating with historians, famous architects, photographers, street artists, and many more. What we ended up finding was a treasure trove of stories that we have meticulously tied together just for you!

But how to deliver this information? We didn’t want to create another Wikipedia, with people looking at their phones instead of the sites. And let’s face it, audioguides and headsets belong to the 20th century.. This is why we’ve created our own storytelling format. Podcast-style tours, enriched with photos and videos, that keep you wanting more.

Our goal is to create a form of travel that will make you truly discover the places you visit.
