Why take this tour?

Meet your guide in central Athens, and stroll to the base of the Acropolis, the city's UNESCO-listed citadel. Avoid the main crowds by heading for the southern slopes, where you visit the Theater of Dionysus and Dionysus Sanctuary and hear about their history. Then, pay your admission (own expense) and head into the Acropolis. Explore key sights such as the Propylaea, Erechtheion, and Temple of Athena Nike, and marvel at the Parthenon as your guide explains its significance. Then, gaze down on Athens and learn about the monuments below, including the agora and Odeon of Herodes Atticus. Continue to the New Acropolis Museum, considered one of the world’s top five museums. Purchase admission and enjoy a guided tour of its highlights, including its statues and glass-floored galleries that reveal excavations on the Acropolis’ slopes. Your tour finishes in the museum, leaving you free to continue exploring independently.
