DAY 2: Travel to Pokhara

Our journey today is westward by luxury bus to the lakeside city of Pokhara. The route travels to the top of the rim of the Kathmandu Valley, then down into the Trisuli River Valley. The Trisuli is famous for whitewater rafting, and no doubt you’ll see rafters along the way. We cross the river and head west until we finally reach the lakeside city of Pokhara. We check into our hotel for the night. In the evening, walk down in Lakeside District where there are wonderful shops along the shores of Phewa Lake.

Pokhara is one of the most popular places to visit in Nepal. Situated in the Annapurna range, its unique skyline is one to remember. People come here to zip line and paraglide along with taking a boat ride on the beautiful blue waters of Phewa Lake. We’ll take a boat ride to visit the temple in the middle of the lake. There is a Buddhist monastery to explore along with museums and other temples. Climb to the top of the Buddhist Peace Pagoda for an outstanding view of the city, the lake and the mountains. In the evening, you will return to your hotel for dinner.

We land at the domestic airport in Kathmandu. Our driver here picks us up and takes us to Mystic Mountain Hotel in Nagarkot. Nagarkot is a beautiful place on the northeastern corner of the Kathmandu Valley where we can witness a Himalayan sunset. From up here, you can see at least five of the world’s highest mountains, including Mt. Everest on a clear day.

Duration: 25 minutes flight

DAY 5: Sightseeing

We wake early to watch the sun rise over the amazing Himalayas from Nagarkot. The morning is dark, but then the first rays of the effulgent sun begin to shoot upwards into the sky. The glaciers turn from grey to reddish orange and finally to a beautiful, brilliant white. We have breakfast before heading off. We will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Changu Narayan and the city of Bhaktapur. We explore old royal palaces and temples along with narrow streets filled with craftspeople. In the evening, we return to Kathmandu.
