Why take this tour?

On this private tour with a local guide, weave your way through enchanting alleys while taking in the impressive Duomo of Amalfi, see the stunning Santuario of Santa Maria Addolorata and hear thrilling as well as tragic stories of this once-glorious Marine Republic of Italy. It is the former Marine Republic of Italy, Amalfi - which lends its name to one of the most famed stretches of land in Italy - the Amalfi Coast. This town is the largest on this spectacular stretch of coastline.

Begin your tour near Piazza Flavio Gioia where your expert local guide will meet you to start an unforgettable exploration on this private tour. Head to the Piazza del Duomo in the very heart of Amalfi where you will greet the dominating Amalfi Cathedral, the Duomo di Amalfi dedicated to the patron saint, Saint Andrew. Built predominantly in Arab-Norman Romanesque architectural style, its intricate facade with bold stripes and shimmering gold mosaics always leaves its visitors in awe.

Soak in the sun as well as the bustling vibe of Via dei Mercanti as you stroll through this alley filled with shops and restaurants before it’s on to the elegant Cloister of Paradise. With its verdant garden and palm trees, this is a true gem located in a secluded corner of the Duomo. Then head nearby to the Sanctuary of Santa Maria Addolorata (located minutes away but technically, in the lovely city of Atrani) this sacred space is the heart and soul of the small town.

As the town of Amalfi becomes more familiar, learn the tragic events of 1343 that all but wiped out this thriving city - once home to a population of close to 70,000. Feel free to ask as many questions as you go - your guide is on-hand to make sure your experience of this picturesque town is the perfect one.
