Highlights

  • An ideal choice for history buffs and culture vultures

  • Enjoy both guided sightseeing and free time

  • Hassle-free hotel pickup and drop-off in Santiago are included

Summary

Start the day with 8am pickup at your hotel in Santiago: pickup is available in the districts of Providencia, Las Condes, Vitacura, or Santiago Centro. Board an air-conditioned van for the 1.5-hour trip to Isla Negra, which passes through a scenic agricultural landscape. Make the first stop of the day at the former home of the poet Pablo Neruda, who built it to resemble the interior of a ship, filled with seashells, mementoes, and treasures from the sea. After touring Neruda’s home, take some time to explore the nearby towns, such as El Tabo, El Quisco, and Canelo, then continue to  Algarrobo, a pair of resort destination adjacent to San Alfonso del Mar (home of a record-breaking swimming pool). Drive to the pottery village of Pomaire for a classic lunch of Chilean specialties (own expense), then join your guide for a walking tour of the village. This is the perfect place to shop for distinctive, affordable souvenirs made by local artisans, and you can buy directly from their small workshops. At the end of the afternoon, begin the return trip to Santiago, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel at roughly 6pm.
