Whale Watching on a Traditional Oak Sailing Ship from Husavik

Summary

Pick up your tickets for your whale watching cruise at least 30 minutes before departure at the North Sailing Ticket Centre, located at Hafnarstett 9, Húsavík (across the street from the Húsavík Church).   Tours depart from Húsavík harbour, just a 2-minute walk from the ticket office, at 9:30am, 11am, 2:30pm, and 4pm. Choose your preferred departure time at checkout and arrive 15 minutes ahead of time.  At the harbor, step aboard one of two traditional wooden sailing boats, the Haukur or the Hildur. Once you are on board, you can immerse yourself in the traditional Icelandic sailing culture by lending a hand and becoming part of the crew if you like, hoisting sails and hauling ropes. You'll be provided with special cold-weather suits to keep you warm and dry while you look for whales and listen to your guides' commentary about the natural environment. On the way back to the harbor, enjoy cinnamon buns and hot chocolate.
