Summary | This small-group tour of Philadelphia highlights the most prominent sites and attractions in the city. It includes visits to Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, City Hall Tower and Observation Deck (when open), the Rocky Steps and Washington Monument Fountain as well as Smith Memorial Arch and a relaxing Delaware River cruise. You will also enjoy a narrated drive through the city passing by multiple points of interest, including First Bank of the United States, Betsy House, Letitia House, Benjamin Franklin’s Grave, Love Park, and Fairmount Waterworks. |
Description | Your tour will begin with your guide picking you up directly from your hotel in downtown Philadelphia. From there we will head over to Smith Memorial Arch to introduce you to the history and story of the city of Philadelphia. Next stop, board the Patriot or Liberty yacht for a relaxing one-hour cruise on the Delaware River. The Patriot and Liberty are reproductions of 1920’s commuter yachts that offer an intimate setting where you can get away from the hustle and bustle of the City. From there, we will step into the largest and tallest City Hall in the US, and take in spectacular views of Philadelphia from its open-air observation deck. The City Hall's tower is over 500 feet tall and its observation deck is situated just below the bronze statue of Philadelphia's founder, William Penn. Ride the elevator to the top of the ornate building and enjoy 360-degree views of Philly and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. On a clear day, you can see right across the Delaware River and into New Jersey. *When the City Hall Tower is closed, the tour will visit the US Mint instead.
Next, your tour guide will deliver a narrated drive through the city passing by some key historical landmarks such as Betsy House, Letitia House, and Benjamin Franklin's grave, as well as Love Park. The last stop will be a visit to the Independence Hall, where you will be able to view Liberty Bell. Easily recognizable because of its crack, the Liberty Bell remains significant today for its message of liberty. Abolitionists, women's suffrage activists, civil rights leaders and others have all used this bell as their symbol in the fight for equality. After a full day of adventure, your guide will return you to your downtown Philadelphia hotel where you can unwind and reflect on your memories from the day. |
