Why take this tour?

Get a comprehensive overview of the ancient and modern attractions of Athens on a walking tour. Perfect for travelers who want to see it all, you and your small group beat the crowds with early admission to the Acropolis and save precious vacation time with skip-the-line tickets to the Ancient Greek Agora. Other highlights include a traditional Greek lunch, a visit to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, and witnessing the Changing of the Presidential Guards ceremony.

This Athens tour covers centuries of the city's history in a single day, using skip the line tickets at the major attractions from the past and present.

Get an early start at the Acropolis where you'll meet your expert guide. Skip the line and walk directly to the top of the hill, beating other groups to get the first glimpse of the Parthenon. After regaling you with its intriguing history, your guide will take you to some of the other highlights of the Acropolis, including the Erechtheum, Monumental Gateway and Theater of Dionysus.

Your next stop is the Ancient Greek Agora, which you’ll also enter with skip the line tickets to see the Stoa of Attalos and Temple of Hephaestus. You'll briefly stop outside the Roman Agora for an introduction from your guide and advice on how to visit on your own.

Take a lunch break in Monastiraki Square, a busy plaza in the heart of Athens. Your guide will take you to a beloved family-run restaurant for mouthwatering souvalki, flavorful marinated meat served with delicious pita, that's included in the price of your tour.

After lunch, it's time to delve into the modern history of the city, starting with a visit to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens. As the seat of the archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Church of Athens, this is the city's largest and most important cathedral. Listen as your guide unpacks the connection between Greek history and religion in the modern era.

On your way to the final stop, you'll walk along the city's bustling shopping street for yet another glimpse into present-day Athens until reaching Syntagma Square. With helpful context and commentary from your guide, you'll witness the Changing of the Presidential Guard that occurs every hour outside the Greek Parliament at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

With skip-the-line tickets, a carefully planned itinerary, and expert local guide, you'll finish your tour with a deeper understanding and appreciation of how Athens transformed from its ancient roots to a modern day city.
