Description | Your tour starts near the Ferry Building with a view of what was once one of the busiest ports in the world. Then you’ll catch one of the iconic San Francisco cable cars from our favorite stop which has none of the crowds you usually find at the others. As you zip up the hill you'll learn what makes this very unique public transport so special (and no doubt snap a few amazing photos along the way!). Disembarking atop Nob Hill, you’ll learn about the industrial tycoons who built the city as you wander through Huntington Park. You'll also step inside the beautiful gothic interior of Grace Cathedral to see the beautiful stained glass windows - and maybe even navigate your way through one of the church’s modern labyrinths to find your inner zen! Heading back down the hill, it’s on to the bustling neighborhood of Chinatown - the largest Chinese enclave outside of Asia, and the oldest Chinatown in North America. Take in hidden landmarks like the Tin How Buddhist Temple as you learn how the neighborhood went from being a seedy red-light district to one of the most vibrant enclaves in the city. Then it’s time for a little treat; pop into the legendary Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory for an insight into the art (and logistics!) of fortune cookie making, and leave with a special custom-made fortune cookie and cute takeaway box! That’s not the end of the delicious snacks either - you'll also get advice on where to eat if you want to try some of the area’s world-famous dim sum. After lunch, your neighborhood to get acquainted with is North Beach, where you'll take in the old haunts of the Beat poets like City Lights Bookstore. You'll climb up the hill to see Lombard Street, the "crookedest street in the world" then pop into the San Francisco Art Institute to bask in the glory of a Diego Rivera mural. Step out onto the roof to take in a spectacular view of the bay before heading down to Fisherman's Wharf for a full ‘behind-the-scenes’ tour. In the Wharf, explore the old docks by taking a local-led route through lesser-visited areas, smell the sourdough at Boudin bakery, and see the sea lions at Pier 39 from a special vantage point with no crowds. Plus don’t forget your visit to Ghirardelli Square where you’ll sample some world-famous chocolate! Your final highlight of the day? A gorgeous bay cruise of the historic waterfront, where beautiful views of the San Francisco skyline in every direction are on offer. You’ll sail past the famous Pier 39 sea lions, right under the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz Island (the closest you can get without booking a ticket!). A perfect end to a San Francisco day. |

Know before you book | While we try to avoid extreme inclines and declines, due to San Francisco's hills as well as crowded city streets and unpaved pathways, guests with mobility limitations, wheelchairs, or strollers cannot be accommodated. |
Know before you go | Please note that the tour meeting time is 15 minutes prior to the start time. No refunds or re-bookings can be provided for late arrivals or no-shows after tour commencement or departure. San Francisco is a notoriously chilly city with micro-climates.
