Why take this tour?

History or culture? Landmarks or unique corners? Take the hassle out of planning your perfect itinerary with an exploration of Lisbon’s downtown area (and beyond!) with a fully guided walking tour led by a passionate, dedicated guide. Spend your morning traversing castle walls, soaking up spectacular views and getting a sense of the history and culture that makes this city come alive!

São Jorge Castle is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the city, the foundations of which date back to the 1st century BC. With a perfectly timed entry you’ll be one of the first of the day to walk inside and take in the history of this momentous building, avoiding the usual medday crowds. Spot the castle’s ‘Door of Treason’, then make your way up to it’s walls where you’ll take in glorious views of the city in the morning sun.

By now, you might have noticed the stunning array of tile-work decorating the city. From cathedrals to bus stations, these colourful, hand-painted patterns tie the city together. And on a visit to an authentic Azulejo tile workshop, you’ll see how they’re crafted from initial details to careful completion.

Once you’ve learned about the city’s artwork, spend some time discovering one of Lisbon’s oldest buildings - the Sé Cathedral. Constructed in the middle of the 12th century, the Cathedral is a masterwork of architecture just as its imposing front implies. Skip the line inside and immerse yourself in striking arches and cloisters. With special VIP access, you’ll be able to journey up a winding staircase that leads to the church’s old Bell Tower, not to mention incredible views of the city below! With so many sights to see and skylines to behold it’s no wonder Lisbon has designated viewpoints dotted all over the city. At the one of its best - the Santa Luzia Viewpoint (Miradouro de Santa Luzia) - you’ll not only take in stunning scenery, but see why these beautiful spots have become landmarks in and of themselves.

Get a taste of local life as you end your tour with a Downtown stroll passing by the Commercial Square (Praça do Comércio), the arch of Rua Augusta and the famous Santa Justa Lift (Elevador de Santa Justa)
