Best of Florence: Small Group Tour Skip-the-Line David & Accademia with Duomo

Highlights

  • Wander the fully-preserved streets of Pompeii on a guided tour. This thriving port town was frozen in time when it was engulfed by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D.

  • View the death casts of people caught in the eruption and peek into shops, temples, public baths, and maybe even a brothel (if suitable for the group).

  • Enjoy a stunning drive along the Amalfi Coast with a stop for lunch (or shopping) in beautiful Positano.

  • With round-trip transport included from Rome by luxury A/C minibus, we take the hassle out of your trip so you can relax and enjoy the views.

  • Group sizes limited to just 18 people or fewer (on the bus as well as during guided sections) mean your day is more intimate - no huge tour buses for us.

Summary

If you only have one day to see the wonders of the Amalfi Coast, our Pompeii Tour from Rome with Amalfi Coast Drive is the perfect all-in-one day trip for you. It’s a beautiful combination of history, archaeology, stunning views, world-class food, and even a little shopping.

Why take this tour?

Experience the Tuscan capital's top attractions on a small-group walking tour through Florence. Begin with skip-the-line access to view Michelangelo's 'David' in the Accademia Gallery, and learn how the House of Medici shaped Florence. Then see the Duomo, the city's iconic, Gothic-style cathedral with your skip the line access. Afterwards your guide takes you to Piazza della Signoria, an open-air art gallery where Michelangelo's David was originally supposed to stand. Then explore the streets of Florence, taking in landmarks like the Ponte Vecchio bridge, Palazzo della Signoria e Piazza della Repubblica.

Start by skipping the line at the Accademia Gallery to see Michelangelo’s David, as well as his partially-finished Slaves , for insight into how he turned jagged rock into the beautiful, lifelike figures of his sculptures. You’ll also hear stories of Leonardo Da Vinci and the powerful Medici family, whose patronage made Florence one of the hot beds of the Renaissance art world.
Next you’ll head to another stone structure that changed world history - Florence Duomo. As you admire the Dome from outside you’ll hear the story of how its architect Brunelleschi recovered lost knowledge and expanded the realm of what was deemed humanly possible all in his pursuit of building it.
After the Duomo you’ll take to the streets to see more of Florence’s landmarks, including the Palazzo Vecchio, the statues of the Orsanmichele church, the Pizza della Repubblica and Piazza della Signoria, the Porcellino pig (rub his nose for good luck!) and of course, Italy’s most picturesque bridge, the Ponte Vecchio.
As you walk, the sites will come to life with the stories told by your English speaking guide. In an intimate group of 15 people or fewer you will have plenty of time to ask questions and learn about the incredible history of this city from the ground up.
