Once a network of old limestone quarries, they served as a depository for the skeletons of some six million Parisians that overcrowded city cemeteries in the 18th and 19th centuries. Not for the feint-hearted, you will pass along low, dimly lit caves dripping with water droplets. The air is cool at this depth. The walls of the passageways are lined 10 feet deep with skeletal remains, artfully stacked and placed. Cared for and led by your expert guide, you will seamlessly navigate the complex tangle of caves and passageways.
