Why take this tour?

Tickets to Michelangelo’s David are like Florentine gold-dust! One of the most famous statues in the world, it’s also one of the most crowded. Luckily, this specially-timed tour takes advantage of last entry tickets to the Accademia, meaning that you can experience the masterpieces, without the usual daytime crowds.

Begin by strolling inside the Accademia for a unique encounter with the iconic ‘David’. Hear fascinating details about Michelangelo’s turbulent life and let yourself be immersed in the story behind his monumental masterpiece. Without the hoards that usually surround it, you’ll be able to fully take in the significance of the artist’s work in peace.

Of course, like any genius Michelangelo started many more works than he actually finished. You’ll have the chance to see his unfinished ‘Slaves’ for an unparalleled insight into his creative process.

That’s not all. Many more dramatic works of Renaissance art await including the Rape of the Sabines, and the plaster casts of Lorenzo Bartolini, all of which will be brought to life by an expert guide fully versed in Italian art history.

Your tour will finish with a visit to the Piazza del Duomo where you’ll see the Florence Duomo and some of the city’s most impressive architecture, including the Baptistery Doors which Michelangelo termed the ‘Gates of Paradise’.
