Wicklow Historic Gaol is a preserved former prison in Wicklow Town, Ireland, offering visitors a window into two centuries of incarceration and social history. Set on Gaol Lane on the grounds of Corporation Lands, this historic site presents immersive exhibits, self-guided tours, and interactive displays that recreate life behind bars, from damp cells to the daily routines of inmates and guardians. Visitors can trace the evolution of justice, punishment, and community life while hearing stories of prisoners, warders, and families connected to the gaol. Note: currently temporarily closed for renovations (as of Oct 2025).
